Underwrite faster. Renew confidently. Know your risk.

Marintel gives marine insurers and P&I clubs structured, validated access to the vessel and ownership records that drive underwriting decisions — across every vessel they insure or are considering.

For Insurers on Marintel
How Marintel works for marine insurers

The problem you face today

You're a P&I club managing 200 vessels. Each one has a policy folder somewhere. Vessel particulars in one system, charter history in another, prior loss records in a third. Class certificates expire and you find out when you ask for them.

When a new vessel is submitted for cover, your underwriters request documents that the owner's broker has to assemble from scratch. When a claim arises, your claims handler reconstructs the vessel's history from email threads and old policy files.

You're underwriting maritime risk with infrastructure designed for individual policy management, not for the network of vessels, owners, and counterparties whose interactions define the actual risk.

What Marintel gives you

A continuously-validated view of the vessels you insure and the counterparties behind them.

  • Vessel records that update automatically as documents are accepted on the platform
  • Class certificate expiry alerts before they become endorsement problems
  • Counterparty entity records with reusable KYC packs (when shared by the entity)
  • Loss-history and incident records linked to vessel ownership
  • Signed verifiable proof of ownership at every transaction point
  • Continuous monitoring of LTV for hull-and-machinery covers

You stop building the picture from scratch every renewal. The picture is already there.

How Marintel changes your workflow

From document chase to deal velocity.

Today

  • New vessel for cover: request documents from broker; 1-2 weeks for response.
  • Class certificate expiry: discovered when your renewal team requests a fresh cert.
  • Ownership change on a covered vessel: notified by broker (sometimes).
  • Claims arise: reconstruct the vessel's record from scattered sources.
  • LTV breach risk: tracked once per quarter via spreadsheet.

With Marintel

  • Vessel record exists; request access via data room; documents arrive validated.
  • Alerts surface 90 days ahead; you proactively engage the owner.
  • Ledger writes notify your insurance system via webhook (V1).
  • Vessel's full history with audit-graded provenance available instantly.
  • Continuous monitoring against live valuations.

Features

Built for insurers.

Vessel record access

When an owner uses Marintel, they can grant insurer-level access. Your team sees: class society and notation, certificate of registry, latest class certificate, statutory certificates (SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, ISM, ISPS), vetting history, inspection findings, trading history. All AI-classified and validated.

Class certificate and statutory cert renewal alerts

Marintel alerts you 90, 60, and 30 days before expiry on class certificate, IOPP, BWM, IAPP, SMC/DOC, ISSC, MLC, and class society interaction events. Underwriting teams plan renewals proactively.

Counterparty KYC and corporate structure

Counterparty entity records include corporate documents (articles, board resolutions, good standing). Insurers underwriting against a particular owner can verify the entity is what was named in the policy.

Mortgagee Loss Payable Clause tracking

Marintel tracks whether the clause is in the H&M policy, the named mortgagee entity (matched against the active mortgage register), the clause type and version, and expiration relative to policy and mortgage.

Incident and claim record linkage

When a vessel has an incident, related documents attach to the vessel record. Patterns become visible: this vessel had two engine room incidents in 18 months. That history is part of the underwriting picture.

Signed verifiable proof of ownership

The Marintel Ownership Snapshot is a cryptographically signed point-in-time view. Your underwriter or claims handler can independently verify the signature using Marintel's published public key.

LTV and covenant monitoring (V1)

For vessels financed and insured, Bank Covenant Monitoring gives both lender and insurer simultaneous visibility into LTV health.

Webhook notifications

Critical events emit webhooks (V1): ownership changes, class certificate updates, mortgage registration/discharge, incident reports, LTV threshold breaches. Real-time integration replaces batch updates.

A typical workflow

You're a senior P&I underwriter. Your portfolio includes 200+ vessels across 50+ owners.

  1. 01

    New cover request arrives

    • Owner's broker shares the vessel's data room. You see the full record.
    • Validation results visible: class certificate matches vessel particulars; mortgage register reflects the active loan
    • You review and quote. Turnaround is 24 hours instead of 7 days.
  2. 02

    Renewal cycle

    • 30 days before policy expiry, Marintel alerts you to upcoming class certificate expiry, LTV status, ownership status
    • You confirm the renewal with confidence; the vessel's risk hasn't materially changed
  3. 03

    Class certificate update

    • 60 days before Special Survey, Marintel reminds the owner
    • Owner completes SS; new class certificate uploaded; webhook notification sent
    • Your policy records update automatically
  4. 04

    Incident occurs

    • Vessel has a fire in the engine room. Owner uploads casualty report, repair details, class society NCRs
    • Your claims handler accesses the data room; full vessel record available
  5. 05

    Annual portfolio review

    • Export an audit log of all events on the 200+ vessels in your portfolio
    • Trends visible: incident clusters, LTV breach risk, class society findings
    • Strategic underwriting decisions backed by data, not anecdote
